Sanction Information

This tournament is being sanctioned by USA Judo

Unfortunately, effective 2024, USA Judo changed their policy to only permit USA Judo members to participate in a USA Judo Sanctioned event.

It is Nanka's intent to support our traditional USJF Yudanshakai members by providing a $15 reimbursement to any USJF competitor who joins USAJudo with an Event Only membership to enter this tournament.

This offer applies only to current USJF members who have declared Nanka as their Yudanshakai and will be joining USA Judo for the first time.  This credit must be requested within the registration form on Smoothcomp.

USAJudo has the following membership options:

Full Judo Membership: $100

Youth Membership-First Year: $60

45 day-one time- Membership: $40

Event Only-can only be used one time before you must purchase a full membership-Membership: $15

The $15 reimbursement will be made to those qualified via Smoothcomp within 3 days after the conclusion of the Spring tournament.

To qualify for this reimbursement, proof of membership in both USAJudo and USJF must be uploaded during registration.

Tournament Overview

 It is Nanka's intention to support and provide judo opportunities no matter your organization. Nanka was formed 90 years ago with this philosophy. Nanka's tournaments are structured to provide a competitive event that is a fair, safe and fun environment for our members.

Nanka Development Tournaments:  Provide an introduction to judo tournaments with the goal of giving competitors the opportunity to gain an understanding of tournament rules and protocols in a competitive situation. 

Please note that the maximum number of individual registrations for this event has been set at 600.

In all cases the Tournament Director has the final decision.

·    Normal Fee Registration:                                   February 8. 2024

·    Late Fee Registration:                                        February 24, 2024  Midnight

·    Registration Closes:                                           February 28. 2024  Wednesday , Midnight

·    Tournament Brackets Published:                      March 1,2024   Friday

·     Final Brackets published:                                 March 2, 2024  8 PM Saturday

 Please be prepared to upload an image of your  membership card when prompted during the online registration process. Registrations without proof of membership will be denied.

For the purposes of this tournament the AGE of the competitor is their age on the day of the event.

Shiai Fees        

A competitor may enter a maximum of 2 divisions.

·   Early Bird Fee (before Feb 8)      $50.00 1st Division,      $35.00 for second division          

·   Normal Registration:                      $60.00 1st Division,       $40.00 for second division

·   Late Registration (After Feb 24)   $70.00 1st Division,       $50.00 for second division

Kata Fees

Kata fee (per person)

·   Early Bird Fee (before Feb 8)        $25.00 1st Kata,            $17.50 for each additional Kata 

·   Normal Registration:                        $30.00 1st Kata,           $20.00 for each additional Kata

·   Late Registration (After Feb 24)    $40.00 1st Kata,            $25.00 for each additional Kata

Shiai Divisions

Nanka endeavors to ensure that all athletes participate in our tournaments do so in a fair and safe manner.

Athletes must select their true age/rank division as their first entry.  They may also select one (1) “additional” division one age group or one rank group up from their first division.

In this Tournament:

·   Competitors will declare age, rank and weight in Kilograms when registering.

·   The competitor's weight will be checked for accuracy mat side, before competing.

After registration closes on Wednesday, February 28,2024, Midnight, competitors will be grouped in brackets based on their declared weight.  The weight groupings within registration are there to help us with this process.  They may be combined, split, or divided, depending on the competitors entered.

NOTE:  no walk up  registrations for this event.
